The Perverted Distraction of Fifty Shades of Grey!
Fifty Shades of Grey is a mainstream erotic book and now a movie that touches the basest, crudest fleshly desires of mankind, dishonoring both men and women. It is a distraction that will destroy hundreds of marriages and mangle the hearts of thousands of men. It is not “border-line porn.” It is porn. For many, Fifty Shades of Grey will become Fifty Shades of Pain
This is darkness. It is a skillful strategy of the enemy that seeks to distract the hearts of men. Let’s just call it what it is – “the thief comes to steal, kill and destroy.” With a wink and a nudge, the world lowers its standards for the sake of a titillating moment, oblivious to the chasm of pain it is falling into.
Don’t be distracted by mainstream perversion. Just because many think it right, doesn’t make it right. When we mess up, God says, “Do your first works over again.” Go back to the basics. Repent and renew
Protect yourself with four key things.…
1. Intimacy with God. Your intimacy with the Lord will lead to deeper times of intimacy in marriage, intimacy with family and friends. Intimacy with God is always the result of prayer and time in His word. There are no substitutes. Start by waking up fifteen minutes earlier and make it happen! (James 4:8)
2. Focus on the finish. How do you want your life to look over the next five years? How will you get there? What distracts you from your vision? Focus is not about living with greater intensity, but with greater
intensionality. Strip away the things that don’t belong. (Phil 3:12-16)
- Endurance. Champions are not men who never fail, they are men who never quit. When you stumble, get back up. When you mess up, repent. God has promised us forgiveness on every occasion we ask. He will never leave us. (Hebrews 13:5 Amp) 4. Strengthen your friendships. The power of agreement is massive. Be in agreement with friends that hold your values, that give you encouragement, that model righteousness. Friends are life’s shock absorbers. You need friends when you’re at a low point, and they need you when they are down. (Prov 17:17)
